SUPER LICENSE POINTS 2019 DRIVER
Courtney becomes the first driver to repeat as Super License champion since Tracy Hines in 2013-2014. Now from 2020, the FIA's World Motor Sport Council has ratified that a driver with a free practice only super licence who completes at least 100km during a free practice session will earn an additional point per Grand Prix weekend, providing they do not pick up any licence penalty points. Each Super Licence, which is required to compete in F1, has a maximum of twelve points that can be accrued before action is undertaken on the driver. This is the 21 st year of the Mike Curb Super License, which will pay Courtney a 5,000 reward and a USAC Super License worth 900 at the year-end USAC Night of Champions in December in Indianapolis, Ind. If they fail to do so, drivers can still drive in Friday practice sessions on Grand Prix weekends, as Formula 2 championship leader Nicholas Latifi did for Williams in Canada earlier this month, via a free practice only super licence, which they can get with 25 points.
